About Noosa Pengari Steiner School
Nestled on 50 acres of tranquil bushland in Doonan, Queensland, Noosa Pengari Steiner School (NPSS) is a single-stream K–12 independent school serving 350 students. Our curriculum is grounded in Steiner pedagogy and anthroposophy, shaped by strong environmental consciousness and a commitment to whole-child education. With increasing enrolment demand and new strategic ambitions, we are poised for a significant next chapter.
The Role
The Principal is responsible for leading the whole school community, managing day-to-day operations, and working in close partnership with the Board of Directors to achieve the school's strategic goals.
We are seeking a steady, insightful, and compassionate leader who will uphold the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner and guide the school with professionalism, maturity, and vision.
You will work closely with a committed Board, a dedicated and experienced staff team, and a warm, engaged community. The right leader will shape the future of our school and strengthen our commitment to values-based, whole-child education.
The Principal will model ethical and inclusive leadership, foster a positive staff culture, and deliver strategic outcomes aligned with Steiner philosophy and the school’s evolving needs.
Key Responsibilities (Abridged - please refer to the Applicant Information Pack for full details)
Strategic and Educational Leadership
Lead the educational vision and uphold Steiner pedagogy and anthroposophy
Develop and deliver the school’s Strategic Plan in partnership with the Board and Leadership Team Cultivate innovation, professional growth and excellence in teaching and learning
Operational and Financial Management
Oversee day-to-day operations, administration and school compliance
Collaborate with the Business Manager to ensure responsible financial management Contribute to budgeting, resource planning and long-term sustainability
Staff Leadership and Human Resources
Inspire, mentor and manage a committed team of educators and support staff
Embed collaborative leadership practices across the College of Teachers and Leadership Team Oversee recruitment, onboarding, appraisal and professional learning
Community and Governance
Build strong relationships across the school and broader community Represent NPSS in key external forums (e.g., Steiner Education Australia, ISQ) Work closely with the Board to support good governance and compliance
Essential Criteria
Bachelor’s degree in Education (postgraduate qualifications in leadership desirable) Current or eligible registration with the Queensland College of Teachers
At least 5 years of leadership experience in schools, preferably in a Steiner or values-based setting Understanding of or genuine openness to Steiner/Waldorf pedagogy and anthroposophy
Proven capability in educational leadership, operational management and staff development Sound knowledge of compliance, governance and financial operations in an independent school context
Commencement: Term 4, 2025 (or by negotiation)
Remuneration: A competitive salary package will be offered, based on experience.
