About Cairns Hinterland Steiner School
CHSS is an independent school situated in Kuranda offering Kindergarten to Class 8. We are a co-educational and non-denominational school offering a curriculum based on the educational insights of Rudolf Steiner. We aim to encourage each child's unique gifts and emerging potentials to unfold in a nurturing, imaginative and guided environment.

The position
The position involves the planning, implementation, and assessment of a quality educational programme for primary-aged children, grounded solidly in the philosophy and principles of Steiner Education. The teacher works creatively, seeking to find a fresh connection to the developmental needs of the children.
The teacher will:
· Be accountable for the teaching and pastoral care of their students, collaboratively engaging with peers across the School for the benefit of the children in their care, and the school as a whole.
· Be committed to ongoing individual and collaborative professional development in Steiner education, wider educational developments and evidence-based practice.
· Be responsible for maintaining positive relationships with colleagues, parents/guardians and participate actively in the life of the school community.
· Have capacity to support and educate parents about primary education in Steiner schools, while holding a conscious awareness of the role of the parents and guardians in their child’s education.
· Be a fully Registered Teacher with Queensland College of Teachers.
· In all aspects of their role act with professionalism, accountability and camaraderie with all other staff members, and in accordance with the school's visions and goals.
Selection Criteria:
· The ability to creatively plan, deliver, monitor and assess an outstanding education program for a diverse group of students.
· An understanding of the principles of Steiner Education and a demonstrated desire to continually deepen that understanding.
· Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills, including the use of school-management software systems and Information Technology.
· Experience in classroom teaching, preferably in a Steiner School.
· Demonstrated commitment to bringing the curriculum to life through the use of the arts and other methods. A dedication to literacy, numeracy, student engagement and wellbeing.
