Class Teacher – Primary School

Permanent full-time contract (1.0 FTE)

Willunga Waldorf School is now inviting applications for the position of a Primary School Class Teacher to commence mid-January 2026. This role will commence teaching class one students, with a view to continue in the class teacher cycle with the same class until class five.

The successful applicant will possess a genuine interest and warmth for facilitating children’s individual learning journeys in a Waldorf classroom setting. You are a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, have a generally positive attitude and outlook, and are able to set boundaries with empathy and respect for students, colleagues and the parent community.

The Class One Teacher will be the primary guardian and educator for a class of approximately 24-26 children. They will create an inclusive, dynamic, and creative environment for all children in the class, including children with additional educational needs. The Class Teacher will also work closely with the other Class Teacher of the same year level to support a sense of community and connection between the two classes. This role will commence with teaching Class 1 students, with the aim of continuing the class teacher cycle with the same students until Class 5.

·       Qualifications and commitment to personal and professional development in Steiner Education and Anthroposophy

·       Demonstrated commitment to the pursuit of excellence in teaching children

·       Familiarity with a wide repertoire of games, songs, stories and verses appropriate to the primary years

·       Artistic/musical/ handcraft skills

·       Outstanding rapport with students

·       Demonstrated ability to communicate openly and effectively with parents/guardians

·       Demonstrated ability to develop, document and differentiate curriculum

·       Collegiality and ability to work flexibly within a team, and actively contribute to a broad range of school activities

·       Excellent classroom management skills

·       Experience working with neurodiverse children and children with additional educational needs

·       Awareness of contemporary educational issues and the capacity to reflect on, evaluate and improve professional knowledge and practice

·       Enthusiasm for teaching in a progressive Waldorf school

·       Full working rights in Australia

Applicants must be eligible for registration with the SA Teacher Registration Board, hold a current “not-prohibited” SA Working with Children Check, and provide/obtain full RRHAN-EC certificate and first aid qualifications.
