KINDLING: The journey continues
After many years of publishing, KINDLING, the Journal for Steiner Waldorf Early Childhood Care and Education, has come to the end of its run as a published journal. Its editors, Simon and Janni, based in the UK, want the Steiner Waldorf community to know that the journey doesn't have to stop here.
KINDLING has been an incredible resource for everyone interested in the child from birth to seven years old. Its pages hold articles on a theme, stories, puppetry, songs, ring time, games, crafts, health, books and more. As the ad says, wisdom never dates, and these issues will continue to inspire.
A gift to our early childhood members
Over the past four years, SEANZ, through Waekura, has gifted a copy of KINDLING to each of our SEANZ early childhood members. We are proud to have been able to share this journal with our centres, and we thank Simon and Janni for their generosity and care in producing it.
The final copy, Issue 50, will be shared with you in one of two ways. It may reach you through a personal network of people who help deliver it as they visit your setting, or you can collect it at the upcoming conference in January 2027. Hand delivering helps us save on postage costs.
Back issues are still available
All back issues can be found through the KINDLING website at www.kindlingjournal.org. Issue 50 also includes a list of the contents of all the back issues, which makes it easy to find the themes and articles that matter most to you.
Simon and Janni have also introduced a new, simple way to buy PDF back issues. Visit the back issues page, choose the issue you would like, pay securely through the KINDLING Payhip site, and the PDF is sent to you directly and instantly online.
Printed copies of Issues 37 to 50 are also still available and can be sent by post. To order, please email Simon and Janni through the website. Discounts may be available for quantity orders.
A thank you from the editors
Simon and Janni have shared a personal message of thanks. It has been a real privilege to edit, design and publish KINDLING, and to be part of such a wonderful community of people who care so deeply about children. So many ideas, songs, stories, articles and experiences have been shared through its pages, and they hope some of them will continue to be used and passed on.
They thank everyone who came along on this journey. It has been a labour of love and a joyful experience to meet so many like-minded, warm-hearted and generous people who keep the well-being of children at the heart of their work and play.
