KINDLING: The Journal for Steiner Waldorf Early Childhood

KINDLING is a journal for everyone interested in the child from birth to seven years old. It was edited, designed and published by Simon and Janni in the UK, and was shared with Steiner Waldorf early childhood communities around the world. Fifty issues were published, and the journal has now come to the end of its run.

What you will find in KINDLING

Each issue explores a theme through articles, and also includes stories, puppetry, songs, ring time, games, crafts, health, books and more. Themes over the years have included play, well-being, transitions, diversity and inclusion, sustainability, digital technology, communication, and music with the young child. It is a practical and inspiring resource for kaiako, parents, students and anyone who works alongside young children. Wisdom never dates, and these issues will continue to inspire.

All back issues are available through the KINDLING website at www.kindlingjournal.org. Issue 50 includes a list of the contents of all the back issues, which makes it easy to find the themes and articles that matter most to you.

A resource for training and study

Students and teachers around the world can access the online PDFs, so KINDLING is a wonderful addition to training programmes, study groups and centre libraries. If you know someone who would value it, please pass the website on.

SEANZ and KINDLING

For four years, SEANZ, through Waekura, gifted a copy of KINDLING to each of our SEANZ early childhood member centres. We are proud to have been able to share the journal with our centres, and we thank Simon and Janni for their generosity and care in producing it.

A thank you from the editors

Simon and Janni have said it was a real privilege to edit, design and publish KINDLING, and to be part of such a wonderful community of people who care so deeply about children. They hope the ideas, songs, stories and articles shared through its pages will continue to be used and passed on. It has been a labour of love and a joyful experience to meet so many like-minded, warm-hearted and generous people who keep the well-being of children at the heart of their work and play.
