Contemplative Pedagogy
A Conference Bringing Together Waldorf Education, Mindfulness and First Nations Wisdom
12 to 14 March 2027, Lorien Novalis Steiner School, New South Wales, Australia (in person and online)
Tom Blackwell, a former Waldorf class teacher of 11 years and now a PhD student at the University of Nottingham in the UK, is organising a conference in New South Wales, Australia, and has asked us to share the details with our community.
Tom's research explores whether Waldorf education embodies mindful educational principles. His conference, titled Contemplative Pedagogy, brings together Waldorf education, mindfulness research and practice, and the wisdom of First Nations peoples. Under the themes of Land, Art and Story, it offers speakers the chance to bring their different perspectives into a shared forum where everyone can learn from one another.
Attending in person or online
The conference will be held in person at Lorien Novalis Steiner School in New South Wales, and it is also available online. Time zones will play a part for those joining from far away, but online tickets include full access to all recorded talks, so you can catch up on anything you miss.
