Board Members Sought

Steiner Education Aotearoa New Zealand (SEANZ) is seeking committed and values aligned individuals to join its Board.

SEANZ is the national umbrella organisation supporting Steiner/Waldorf education across Aotearoa New Zealand, including schools, early childhood centres, and teacher education.

We work to strengthen, support, and advocate for an education approach that nurtures the whole human being and contributes positively to our communities and future generations.

About the Role

As a Board member, you will contribute to the strategic leadership and stewardship of SEANZ. The Board governs at a national level, supporting a diverse and distributed education movement and working collaboratively with member organisations, staff, and partners.

Board members collectively:

  • Set strategic direction and ensure long-term sustainability

  • Provide sound governance and oversight

  • Uphold SEANZ’s values and educational purpose

  • Support strong relationships across the Steiner education community

  • Strengthen cultural capability and honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi in governance practice.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome expressions of interest from people who:

  • Are committed to Steiner/Waldorf education and its place in Aotearoa New Zealand

  • Bring governance experience or a strong willingness to grow in governance capability

  • Have skills or experience in areas such as finance, legal, education, organisational leadership, strategy, or cultural capability

  • Value collaboration, stewardship, and thoughtful decision making

  • Are able to take a whole of movement perspective beyond individual organisations.

Previous board experience is welcome but not essential. We value diversity of background, experience, and perspective.

Time Commitment

The SEANZ Board meets a minimum of four times per year, with additional involvement in subcommittees or working groups as required. Board roles are voluntary.

Why Join the SEANZ Board?

  • Contribute to the future of Steiner education nationally

  • Be part of a thoughtful, purpose driven governance community

  • Develop governance capability in a uniquely New Zealand context

  • Support education that values creativity, humanity, and social responsibility.
